Psh super talented I am not, but thnkas for the compliment. Here is the website for it. It’s a very poorly designed, hard to navigate site but the event is Thursday June 2nd through Saturday. I think my sister and I will go there on that Saturday, get there early watch some balloons that they will have, and then go float down the river for a while.

Pop Pop balloons is great for worikng on concepts, thank you. First I previewed the language associated w/ the activity: shapes, sizes, colors, then I let my student make whatever she wanted, and helped her to talk about it (e.g., I made a big, red, heart balloon”). Then, I had her follow my directions to make specific ones. I had her direct me to make some, and finally, I made several w/ contrasts in each element and directed her to pop them (e.g., pop the little red star balloon, pop all the big balloons, etc.).

I have been interning on Assateague Island in Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge as an enardgened shorebird monitor. We work on the beach out there 7 hours everyday. There are a staggering amount of balloons on this island and the ones in the area. The current and winds bring many strandings here and balloons are probably the most common. When driving up the beach about 8 miles to survey for birds I counted over a hundred balloons! 120 from what I was able to see. With 7 of them washing in from the waves. There were only about 8 other things I saw that weren’t balloons making it a 1:16 ratio of other debris to balloons. It is unbelievable and it has to stop! : (
